Benefits of Music Lessons for Children
Studies have shown that young people who study a musical instrument or voice perform better in school work. They learn self-discipline, concentration, perseverance, muscular coordination and self-esteem.
Lessons Offered
Piano Lessons: I teach beginners to advanced levels. I recommend the Alfred or Faber Piano methods. Intermediate and advanced students can choose their own materials as long as it’s challenging but attainable.
Voice Lessons: Each student has a unique voice that needs to be nurtured to attain its full potential. I work with each student on correct breath support, vowel production, vowel modifications, focus, elevating the voice, transition through registers, smooth and beautiful phrasing, good posture, vocal health, etc. I give vocalises to each student (vocal exercises), and then help them select which songs they’d like to work on. I take special care when teaching children as their voices are still in early development.
Flute Lessons: I recommend the Rubank method for the beginner, intermediate and advanced flute player. I also encourage the students to include solo and duet pieces in their repertoire.
Songwriting: Songwriting can be incorporated into the music lessons or done independently. I work with each student on their individual songwriting goals.
Music Theory: I work with students in gaining a solid understanding of music theory. This can be incorporated into the music lessons or done independently.
Audition Prep: I work with students to choose and prepare songs for auditions. I coach them on stage presence, confidence, technique, emotion, positive thinking, interview skills, etc.
Hours, Rates & Policies
Hours: Private online music lessons are taught every day, Monday-Friday, 9am-7pm Pacific Time
Home School/Charter Students: I currently teach Scale, Compass, iLead, Sky Mountain, Excel and River Springs Charter School students. I am open to becoming a vendor for other charters as well.
Payment Schedule: The first private online lesson is $40 paid through Venmo, Zelle or PayPal. Following that first lesson, lessons are paid at the beginning of each month for that month’s lessons according to the 2026 rates: $40.00/30 minute lesson. Charter school students pay through the charter under their charter school guidelines.
I require a 24 hour notice if the student needs to reschedule a lesson. If a student must cancel a lesson within 24 hours of the lesson, the tuition for that lesson will be forfeited unless the student is ill. If the student is ill, a makeup lesson will be scheduled.
